“recently viewed” busses!
We’ve added a new (hopefully) useful feature for verified users: “Recently Viewed”.
When you go to your homepage on commuting.in, below your active time windows you will find a new section of recently viewed busses. This provides you with quick links to the last five busses that you got predictions for (whether from your homepage, viewing a favorite, or checking out a new bus).
This should make it easier for tracking a bus that you don’t use often enough to make a favorite, but that you might be checking out a couple times in a row (like to see if you’re going to catch that connecting bus..).
We have a couple more things coming soon in the pipeline, so stay tuned!
As always, if you run into any bugs, or have any ideas about things that might be a good addition, drop us a line at info@commuting.in.
API changes are fun.
I got an email from Harper (maintainer of the unofficial CTA transit API proxy) on friday letting me know that the CTA would be changing their API slightly in the next day or two. Since that API is where all the good information on commuting.in comes from, I was incredibly pleased to have advance warning that the API was going to be changing. Big thanks to Harper for that info, and to the CTA for providing him that info.
I had a chance to get online tonight and got all the good stuff converted over to the new API structure.
So, sorry that things (most notably predictions) were down for a bit earlier today (and maybe tomorrow…) but all should be back to normal now.
Please drop us a line at info@commuting.in if you notice anything acting funny.
Thanks!
(btw, there are some new things added to the API which should be making their way into commuting.in soon. Keep your eyes peeled!)
commuting.in is now prettier and less sucky!
We pushed out changes today that made commuting.in a bit prettier and cleaned up some of the back end. We figured you might enjoy the changes that we had made so far as you perfect your commute. I guess you could call it alpha3.
We’ll still be working to improve commuting.in and since you use it, we figure you might have some input. So feel free to let us know here or email us at info@commuting.in.
Alpha2 release of commuting.in
We’ve just launched a new release of commuting.in! If you’ve been using the site since our early alpha you should notice quite a few enhancements. to everyone else, WELCOME!
Here we will discuss new features and hottness you can find in commuting.in
Welcome to the commuting.in blog.
Welcome to commuting.in
commuting.in allows you to set schedules & preferred bus stops.
When you revisit the site you automatically see when your scheduled bus is going to arrive.
commuting.in pulls the live bus tracking information from the Chicago Transit Authority (CTA) Bus-tracker & automagically shows you your favorite stops at your usual times. No need to choose your route & stop each time you need to catch the bus. You can also have a list of favorites to check any time you’re out and about.
Commuting.in was built by nerdgoggles which is Aaron Salmon, Bryan Knight and Dylan Richard.
Big thanks to Harper and the transitapi.com.
It’s pretty alpha, but we’re working on it. Feel free to drop us a line at info@commuting.in with suggestions or ideas. You can also follow us on twitter or read more at the blog.
